Streetphotography
Why street photography?
I love street photography because it teaches me to truly observe the world around me. It invites me to find something extraordinary within the ordinary. To notice beauty, emotion, and meaning in the most common moments and familiar places. Through it, even my home environment reveals itself in a different light, becoming deeper, richer, and full of stories waiting to be seen.
Street photography also draws me into unexpected human connections. It encourages me to engage with strangers, to share fleeting moments, glances, or conversations that can unexpectedly brighten a day. When I travel, these spontaneous interactions help me move beyond the surface of a place and immerse myself in its culture, allowing me to feel closer to lives and worlds far away from home.
A meaningful highlight of my artistic journey was being interviewed by Público, Portugal’s national newspaper, about my artistic residency in Porto. The feature focused on my work in Miragaia, one of the city’s most traditional and historic quarters, and on the stories of the people who bring this neighborhood to life.
Through my photography, I explored the soul of Miragaia by capturing its streets, atmosphere, and, above all, its residents — their presence, routines, and the sense of community that defines the area. The interview was a special opportunity to share the vision behind this project and reflect on the connection between place, memory, and human stories.
